Gap Medics- Opportunities abroad in Summer

We would like to inform aspiring medical students about an incredible opportunity to gain first-hand medical work experience in Tanzania this summer. Are you interested in a career as a doctor, nurse, midwife or dentist? Gap Medics can offer you the opportunity of a lifetime!

Each student will shadow a healthcare professional in one of our partner hospitals for a minimum of 23 hours a week, giving a real insight into clinical medicine. You can observe surgical procedures such as appendectomies and amputations in the surgical department, C-sections and natural births in obstetrics and gynecology and infectious diseases such as TB and malaria in Internal Medicine.

We are aware that learning about the prevention and treatment of diseases which are prevalent in the local area is important to help you understand what they are witnessing in the hospitals. Gap Medics provide Global Health Tutorials to your students three times per week, so they can gain a deeper understanding of healthcare in the region where they are based.

Students will stay in Gap Medics houses with other like-minded people of the same age. They have a full-time, dedicated staff team who will make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. This includes a 24/7 security team to give parents back home peace of mind!

The placements are available every week throughout the summer holidays, so if you are interested check out this website www.gapmedics.co.uk, or call for more info on 0191 230 8080.
