January mock exams….start revision now!

Top Tips:

January exams are nearly here and although they are probably the last thing you want to think about on the run up to Christmas, starting revision now will definitely be a life saver come January.

Do the obvious first: This means reading over all your notes from college, textbooks, mindmaps, flash cards, revision guides and websites.

Make it more interesting for yourself: Use bright colours to arrange your topics, record yourself on your phone and listen to yourself back and stick your revision around your room so it stays imbedded in your memory.

Eat & Breathe Practice Questions: Don't just stick to past papers and mark schemes, crave for more. Also do worksheets from the internet, questions from revision guides and your textbook, ones you have invented etc. A lot of past papers can be found on your exam board’s websites…ask your teacher about this.

Become a Teacher: Teach it to someone else, particularly someone who struggles with it. If you have no one to talk to, teach it to an imaginary class or a collection of your old teddy bears.

Time Management: To avoid procrastination, identify your biggest distractions and get your parents to hide your laptop and phone for certain periods of your day. Or go on getcoldturkey.com which blocks the sites you waste the most time on but still allows you to access educational resources on the net.

Finally…During the exams, don't panic! Aim for 100%. You might not get 100%, but raising it to that standard is a better mindset. Better mindset, better results.

Most importantly, enjoy your Christmas, doing a bit of revision regularly is better than making yourself miserable over the holidays by doing too much or too little. So start now to avoid burning yourself out before your exams.
Good Luck!
